Chapter Twenty-Four
#xa0;
Jenna
I found Ali asleep on my couch when I got home from Pilates. Stretched out with his socked feet over the edge, he looked sweet and tempting. Not for the first time, I wondered what the hell was wrong with me. I shouldn’t be seeing him as anything other than what he was, or his purpose. He was my key to the club and my link to Jack. Nothing else.
“Hey,” I said, sitting down on the coffee table as he cracked first one, then the other eyelid. “I could have been a burglar.”
“A very beautiful one.”
“Did you eat?”
“I was waiting for you. You wanna go out?”
“It’s nearly nine, and I grabbed a quick bite with Casey. I can fix you something.”
He reached out and pulled me down onto him, trapping me in his arms and legs. “How about I just eat you?”
“Is that what you think?” Maybe if I just didn’t look at him.
“Or we could talk?” He gave me his serious face. “About what happened the other night in my room.”
I froze in his arms, probably reminding him. “I told you, I was overwhelmed. I get that way when I’m surrounded by bikers.”
“I’m going to work out what’s going on in here,” he said, tapping his finger to the side of my head. “But it’s okay, we got time. I plan to be spending some time here, might even say I’m going to move in by stealth.”
“Um, if you say it, it’s kind of defeating the whole sneaky thing.” I grinned, despite everything.
“You got your secrets.” He kissed me, tugging on my bottom lip. “We all do.”
“Well, you’re one to talk.” I tried to smile up at him and, when that failed, let my hand trail over the front of his jeans.
“Nah, not working,” he said.
That was not actually true. “Did you bring some stuff with you—clothes and things I mean?”
He nodded at me. “I get the feeling you’d rather do this here than back at the clubhouse.”
He was right about that. “If it’s okay with you?”
“I don’t care where we are to be honest.” He kissed the tip of my nose. This was a different Ali, softer. “Long as I’m with you, it doesn’t matter.”
The kisses were slower, gentle and his hands pushed my hair back from my face, not tugging it. I liked this. Not that I didn’t enjoy him any other time. But this sweetness was something I needed and he seemed to get that.
His phone rang, making my chest constrict. He checked the number and tossed it to the other side of the room.
“Was it Jack?” I asked.
“Nope, not the kid. Just club shit.”
“Shouldn’t you answer it?” It was ringing again.
He pressed his forehead against mine and rocked both our heads side to side. “No, I don’t think I should.”
“You’re getting called out again?”
“No, I’m going to make out with you on this couch until you’re in a frenzy and grabbing at my dick again.”
I grinned under him. That sounded like a very good plan.
